Today, I am not reading you a story. Instead, I am going to talk about belief. Why are tales of UFOs and cryptids and other creatures beyond our understanding so enticing? There are plenty of stories of terror, from kaiju films to Independence Day. But I want to focus on stories where the unknown is greeted with open arms. Fair warning, I will be spoiling The X-Files, The Three-Body Problem, and Arrival.
